Rehabilitation EngineeringGordon Rose, who founded ORLAU in 1975, instigated the development of the swivel walker and the parawalker. These devices are now widely used worldwide, aiding mobility in paralysed patients. ORLAU continues it's engineering research and development work with devices to deal with contractures and postural control impairment. ORLAU is currently assessing the use of 3D laser scanning in the manufacture of Ankle Foot Orthoses, developing a mechanised contracture correction device and a porable measurement device for recording joint moment development. |
